my tractor doesnt fire up could it be the sparl plug and air filter?

i meant spark plug
the battery is new and it turns over good.i had it running 4 months ago i have to start it with quick starting fluid.i have cleaned the sparl plug lol. and put new air filter in it was very dirty. the gas is 4 months old so i added to it

Well, Gary…. as long as you have a fat blue spark at the right time, then fuel is always the culprit when it comes to ride-on-mowers (mechanical problems excepted, of course). First thing to check is if the float needle falls when you remove the bowel. Likely as not it does not. The reason…. the engine does not even try to start… Should try to start on the idle jet, but the idle jet is not getting gas, so, the float needle is stuck shut with gum reside. remove the carburetor and strip it down to all its parts (yes, I know its a pain) and so is this bloody fly buzzing round me… I must smell like turd! Anyway… Place the carburetor in a shallow bowel and pour some B12 or SeaFoam over the carburetor (fully immerse it) for 24 hours. This will clean out and dissolve the gum residue. Refit the carburetor and you should be good to go. Put an egg-cup-full of B12 or Seafoam into the gas tank to prevent a nonoccurrence of the gumming.
